As you know, the number of Spanish speakers living in the US is increasing rapidly and will continue the uphill trend. By learning Spanish for your profession you are ensuring optimal service to patients.
This is a self-paced activity consists of 6 web-based instructional modules with active learning exercises, self-assessments and a written manual. It has been customized to teach you the Spanish you need for your profession. You will learn vital pronunciation skills since you will be speaking the language much more frequently than you will be writing it. Then you will learn grammatical formulas that will enable you to put together any necessary phrase or sentence for a variety of situations. You will earn the grammar you need to communicate effectively with patients. The next 2 modules cover basic vocabulary including greetings, numbers, days and times. These sections will prime you for whatâ??s to come. It will also enable you to engage in small talk with any Spanish speaker. The last two lessons are vital. They contain specific pharmaceutical terminology which you will need in assessment and counseling of patients. They cover body parts, symptoms, conditions, drugs, allergies, directions for use, insurance information and patient information. These lessons contain expressions that are already put together for your use as well as easy formulas for you to create your own phrases
This program is intended for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who wish to develop or improve their Spanish-speaking skills and provide culturally appropriate care for Spanish-speaking patients.

1. This online, self-paced activity provides 12 hours of application-based, homestudy continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit, including 6 hours video and 6 hours independent study with active learning and assessment.
2. Participants will have 60 days to complete the six online lessons of the course (each at approximately one hour of run time) and to pass each of the six assessments (one per lesson). Participants will be given three attempts to successfully achieve a score of 70% or better on each assessment.
3. In order to receive CPE credit, participants must listen to all recorded content, participate in the active learning exercises, pass the post-assessment exams, and complete an online evaluation at the University of Georgia's College of Pharmacy continuing education website (www.rxugace.com). No partial credit will be given.
4. All continuing pharmacy education credits will be reported to CPE Monitor within 60 days of completion of the activity evaluation and may be accessed on your profile at NABP.net.
