Introduction to Veterinary Pharmacy

Date: September 01, 2016 — September 01, 2019

Program Fee: $299.00

Introduction to Veterinary Pharmacy course is designed to promote medication safety and minimize drug errors in the veterinary patient. Fourteen online modules were designed to increase effective communication between pharmacists, veterinarians and pet owners and increase knowledge of veterinary medications and animal pathology, as well as laws and rules applicable to veterinary pharmacy.

As a result a 2012 FTC regulations change, pharmacies are now able to stock more veterinary products. With the expanding amount of veterinary drug products available there was a corresponding need for education and training for the pharmacist. The Office of Continuing Professional Development and Outreach worked with a veterinary pharmacist and community veterinarian to meet this need and offer the Introduction to Veterinary Pharmacy Practice-Based Certificate Program for pharmacists.
