Module I: Managing Patients on Oral Anticoagulation
Anticoagulation therapy management by the pharmacist has become the standard of care for patients in acute and ambulatory settings. It is imperative to ensure the availability of anticoagulation educational programs focused on contemporary, evidence based knowledge and skill development for pharmacists.
The need for an anticoagulation practice-based activity for pharmacists is based on participant requests after attending previous educational programs and on the review of current literature and medical advances including, a review of changes in the treatment of Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation, the FDA committee approval of the first new class of drug to treat venous thromboembolism (VTE) in over three decades, and the National Patient Safety Goals.
Description
This first in a series of 3 webinars will provide the participant with a foundational knowledge in the management of patients on anticoagulant therapy. The webinar will be followed by a case study that will allow the participant to apply knowledge gained during the webinar.
