The H1N1 Pandemic Influenza has infected nearly 50 million people, caused 200,000 hospitalizations and resulted in over 10,000 deaths. Are you prepared to help your community deal with this continuing threat?
Hurricane Katrina took over 1800 lives, left some 9000 people homeless and caused over 80 billion dollars in damage. Do you know what natural disasters could strike in your community? your State?
Nearly 3000 Americans died on September 11, 2001. Anthrax attacks later that same year took 5 lives and resulted in mass prophylaxis of thousands from New York to Miami. What role would you be expected to take if terrorists attacked your community?
Description
The Georgia Board of Pharmacy now requires that all pharmacists licensed in the state obtain 3 hours of disaster training. This 3-hour continuing education activity is designed to provide an introduction to disasters for pharmacists and outline the steps involved in mass dispensing of medications as well as a mass vaccination campaign.
The required content is divided into 3 modules that address preparing for, planning for and responding to emergencies. Supplemental content and information is available to all who register to aid in disaster preparedness, planning and response.
This audio-visual program is self-paced. You may stop and start the program as many times as is necessary to view all presentations and review all handouts and resources.

Target Audience
This program is intended for all pharmacists licensed in Georgia.
Schedule
The program is composed of 3 online modules:
Part 1: Preparing for Emergencies
Part 2: Planning for Emergencies
Part 3: Responding to Emergencies
Each module provides approximately 50 minutes of instruction with at least one active learning exercise, followed by a single post assessment and evaluation.
Requirements
To receive continuing pharmacy education credit, the participant must view all three (3) audio-visual presentations, participate in the active learning, then complete the post assessment and activity evaluation. No partial credit will be given.
Post Assessment answer sheet and activity evaluation must mailed and postmarked prior to December 31, 2010 in order to receive credit for 2010.
