Hurricane Katrina took over 1800 lives, left some 9000 people homeless and caused over 80 billion dollars in damage. Do you know what natural disasters could strike in your community? your State?

Nearly 3000 Americans died on September 11, 2001. Anthrax attacks later that same year took 5 lives and resulted in mass prophylaxis of thousands from New York to Miami. What role would you be expected to take if terrorists attacked your community?

Description

The Georgia Board of Pharmacy now requires that all pharmacists licensed in the state obtain 3 hours of disaster training. This 3-hour continuing education activity is designed to provide an introduction to disasters for pharmacists and outline the steps involved in mass dispensing of medications as well as a mass vaccination campaign.

The required content is divided into 3 modules that address preparing for, planning for and responding to emergencies. Supplemental content and information is available to all who register to aid in disaster preparedness, planning and response.

This online program is self-paced. Once you have registered and paid for the program, course materials will be accessible through December 31, 2010.

NOTE: You may exit and re-enter the program as many times as necessary to view all presentations and review all handouts and resources.
