Breaking News: Update in the Treatment of Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis affects over 10 million people in the United States and another 30 million have low bone density. There are approximately 1.5 million osteoporosis related fractures each year and the direct costs of the disease is over 18 million dollars. During their lifetime, 50% of women and 20% of men will experience an osteoporosis related fracture.
Description
Dr. Beth Phillips originally presented this 1 hour continuing pharmacy education activity in April of 2009. Due to overwhelming response and the established need for education on osteoporosis, it is now available as a web-based program.
The activity is comprised of an audio-visual recording with active learning and a post-test. Handouts on the content can also be printed from the website.
Target Audience
This program is intended for pharmacists in community or health-system practice and academia.
Requirements
In order to receive continuing pharmacy education credit, the participant must view the presentation, participate in the active learning, pass the post test with 70% or greater, and complete the online evaluation.
