Upon completion of the corresponding textbook chapter in Pharmacotherapy Principles & Practice and this on-line assessment, the reader should be able to:

1. Apply knowledge of the pathophysiology of acute renal failure to the development of a treatment plan.
2. Assess a patient’s kidney function based on clinical presentation, laboratory results, and urinary indices.
3. Identify pharmacotherapeutic outcomes and endpoints of therapy in a patient with acute renal failure.
4. Select pharmacotherapy to treat complications associated with acute renal failure.
5. Design a diuretic regimen that considers the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of the drug.
6. Develop strategies to minimize the occurrence of acute renal failure.
7. Monitor and evaluate the safety and efficacy of the therapeutic plan.
