Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity the participant should be able to:
1. State the emergencies that have occurred in the U.S. over the last decade.
2. Describe the current situation with regard to disasters, focusing on pandemic influenza.
3. Identify disasters and threats that are specific to your practice area.
4. Define the role(s) of pharmacists in each potential disaster or threat.
5. Investigate the use of immunization registries and vaccine tracking during a pandemic.
6. Describe the protocol development and review process for medications used in a disaster.
7. Describe the planning and operation of a mass dispensing/vaccination clinics.
8. Compare methods for mass dispensing/vaccination.
9. Explore the role of pharmacists in mass dispensing/vaccination campaigns.
