2. Describe the components of parenteral nutrition (PN) and their role in nutrition support.
3. Explain the pharmaceutical and compounding issues with parenteral nutrition (PN).
4. Develop a parenteral nutrition (PN) prescription and a plan to initiate parenteral nutrition (PN) based on patient-specific factors.
5. Describe the etiology and risk factors for substrate intolerance, including hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and azotemia, in patients receiving parenteral nutrition (PN).
6. Describe the etiology and risk factors for the refeeding syndrome in patients receiving parenteral nutrition (PN).
7. Describe the etiology and risk factors for liver complications and metabolic bone disease in patients receiving parenteral nutrition (PN).
8. Design a plan to monitor, prevent, and treat parenteral nutrition (PN)–associated complications.
