Upon completion of this activity the participant should be able to:
On completion of the chapter, the reader will be able to
1. Describe the epidemiology and clinical presentation of the various gastrointestinal infections.
2. Develop an individualized treatment plan given a patient with each of the gastrointestinal infections.
3. Understand the impact of resistance on the treatment of the various gastrointestinal infections.
4. Recognize the effect of immunosuppression on gastrointestinal infections.
5. Educate patients on appropriate prevention measures.
6. Describe the role of antimicrobial prophylaxis and/or vaccination for gastrointestinal infections.
