Upon completion of the chapter, the reader will be able to:
1. Identify risk factors for multiple sclerosis.
2. Describe pathophysiologic findings of multiple sclerosis.
3. Recognize common presenting symptoms of multiple sclerosis.
4. Distinguish between the forms of multiple sclerosis based on the patient presentation and course of disease.
5. Compare and contrast multiple sclerosis disease-modifying treatment choices for a specific patient.
6. Determine appropriate symptomatic treatment choices and a detailed therapeutic plan for a specific patient.
7. Develop a monitoring plan for a patient placed on specific medications.
